Budget: as much as $350, but preferrably between $250 and $300

Size: as small as possible, ultra-compact would be ideal

Features: 4 megapixels will suffice, more is fine too

* What optical zoom will you need? 3x-4x (or more)

* How important is “image quality” to you? 7-8

Do you care for manual controls? i don't use them now but would like the option. i realize it is rare for ultra-compacts to have manual controls though

General Usage

* What will you generally use the camera for? mostly for everyday use while living abroad

* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not? rarely

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos? an average amount

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos? not often

Miscellaneous

Are there particular brands you like or hate? i have a canon film camera that i like

Are there particular models you already have in mind? i have been looking at Casio Exilim EX-Z750, Canon Powershot A610...or Canon Powershot SD300 if i'm willing to forget manual controls.

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD) no, but one thing i think i would like is an optical viewfinder
