Has anyone seen a compatibel battery for the Panasonic FZ30 yet?

or are there reasons to buy the more expensive original? :confused:

I understand the battery for the FZ20 fits the FZ30 with a piece of foam to stop the battery from banging around inside the camera. The 30 battery is a little thicker than the 20. Also, the 30 has slightly more capacity than the 20.

The old battery base (the same as the flat side of the new FZ30 battery) is identical to the new battery, and fits snugly into the FZ30 battery compartment without rattling. There's a slight difference in mAh ratings; the old is 680 mAh, vs. 720 mAh for the new one. Makes you wonder why they bothered!

I have purchased 2 x compatible batteries from Battery Barn - these are ACD-25 replacement for Panasonic CGA-S006.(made by VidPro) and they also have a 2 year warranty.
Also bought a Charger too.
Here in UK these batteries are VERY difficult to obtain and they are £50 each!
Battery Barn's were $18.99 each.
They appear to work and charge perfectly and note that these are 7.2v 1000mAh Lithium-Ion, so are more powerful than the Panasonic 720/730 originals.
The Original charger also works with the replacement batteries and at this price has to be good. (Note their charger has a car attachment which could be very useful). The Charger cost was $25.00.

The camera also so far out the box is very good - perhaps noisy at low light and image stabilisation knocks off on full telephoto at times, but using common sense, it seems a good buy.
I also use Canon 20D equipment, so it's interesting to compare.
