Hi there,

i need help i don't know if choose the FZ5 or FZ30. I know that FZ30 is more complete and has more function then FZ5 but it's also true that 5 is smaller and more portable then FZ30. So the more funtion that FZ30 has does be worth the 170€ that cost more then fz5?

Sorry for my english

if money doesnt matter, then i suggest for you to buy entry level dslr.. than FZ30 :D
but if you just want to take some nice pic (outdoor and snap shot).. then i think FZ5 is more than enough!

The FZ30 is a great camera is it worth couple hundred dollars more than the FZ5? It is to me but I do not know about you.

The FZ5 is much more compact but the FZ30 has many more features.
When I upgraded to the FZ20 from the FZ10 it was not worth the price but upgrading from the FZ20 to the FZ30 was easily worth the price to me.

If you want an ultra zoom camera the FZ30 is the best available.
But the FZ20 or FZ5 are good cameras also.

Thank you for the suggestion, genece.

I've a coolpix3100 and since i found it nice but very restrictive becouse the lack of manual controls, i decided to buy a real camera with wich learn to make what really photography is. And since a Digital Reflex Camera is too expansive I've opted for FZ30 to learn making photos with manual controls and when I'll became more capable I'll buy a Digital Reflex.

If portability is important to you the FZ5 is a great balance between functionality and size. I have the FZ5. The FZ30 was not available when I bought my camera and recently checked it out to see if I missed out. I still would have purchased the FZ5. The things that were most important to me was Ultra Zoom, portability and the capability to print a good 8 X 10. I'm not one that will use manual options very often, so the FZ5 has enough functionality for me. The options that I do use are easy to access. My favorite is the ability to step up or down the exposure.

For its price, I think the FZ5 is the best camera you can find.
You can use it in Automatic mode, but you also have lots and lots of manual settings available.
You don't have manual focus and a flash shoe.
