Hi there, I'd be extremely grateful for any advice or pointers you can give me on choosing the right camera for me. I am hoping to buy in the next few weeks so if you know of any up & coming models that would be ok. I want to be able to print photos for using in scrapbooks so the quality of the pictures needs to be good and I would like to be able to print pictures any size I like without too much distortion, is this where the number of pixels comes in? I have read your reviews on a few models and was looking at the Minolta X60 but am now thinking of the Nikon 7900 although the 7600 is obviously cheaper with it being the previous model - is there much difference in the models?

Oh and I am in the UK so need models that are not US specific!

Thank you so much in advance.

Budget - under $400

Size - compact, point & press

Features

5 million plus

As much optical zoom as poss

“image quality” 9

Do you care for manual controls? Not sure, could you give me a bit of info please?

General Usage

* What will you generally use the camera for? holiday/general photos,

* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not? yes

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos? yes

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos? possibly

Miscellaneous

Are there particular brands you like or hate? not particularly but would prefer a brand name I know!

Are there particular models you already have in mind? nikon 7900? sony W7?

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD) ??

I would choose the 7900 over the 7600 many times over. If the 7900 is too expensive, I would opt for the 5900 instead. Just don't go for any of the X600's because they are cheaply built (all plastic vs. metal body) and have less features.
