They look good, no visible noise. What was the ISO setting?
The photos were taken at ISO80 1/125sec F5.0

They really look nice at that size.. how do they look larger.
I think this is going to be a great camera ....now If UPS just gets mine here ..they promised me but it does not seem to be moving much.
They look good when viewed fullscreen, I can zoom in on the bug in the leaf in the second photo and start to see detail on it's body.
Noise is not too bad.

I've a FZ20. Not much noise problems with iso80 or 100.
the attached pictures of the FZ30 seems ok (with iso80).
But pictures have to be made in a relative dark surrounding
(museum, church ecc). How does noise problems come out
there with iso 100 ?

The shots look good to me too - can't see any visible noise in the picts - then again I just woke up :D
It looks as if in good light the FZ30 seems to be good - actually as good and may be even better than the FZ20 in my opinion. If you get time a couple of low light shots at ISO 200 would be cool.

Read in your posts that your back was acting up. I took a cruise on the Guided Missile Cruiser USS Cape Saint George, CG 71 as a VIP earlier this year and re-injured my knee, A lot of limbing ladders. Did not stop picture taking. Doc said a few more months to see what happens..
When you try the add-on lenses attached to your NEW! FZ30 will you post and comment on low light ability. I have TCON 14B, TCON 17, WCON 08B. The 62mm will require a 55/62mm step up ring. I was hoping the 17 would have less vignetting on a 55mm lens vs the 62mm FZ20's
I am thinking of waiting to Christmas time to buy my FZ30 [for pricing].
Thank you.

Sorry about your Knee Stan I hope it gets better ..it takes longer and longer to heal anymore.
And you are correct about the Vignetting Stan.
The 14B hardly vignettes at all totally gone at 2X
The Tcon17 its gone at 4X
and the Raynox 2020 its gone at 7X.
And if you use the extended zoom those numbers are better and if you use the digital zoom which is usable on this camera there is no vignetting.
I had some photos on my site taken against that light wall to show that but the host must have ate them as I can not find them now.
If they show up I will post a link for you, here are a few with the Raynox 2020. and the other photos were there but not now. All untouched but for the text.

All the ducks and such on this page were taken with the Tcon 17 on the FZ30
and the exif should show some under 5X, all untouched.

And I havve the DCR 720 WA and its usable thru the zoom range.
No vignetting anywhere.

Gene, I am very anxious to see your results with the FZ30, the link I couldnt get to work! I was able to get to your main page but couldnt find any Z30 pics, I did however check out your fish pics, as a fellow avid fisherman, what lures were you using to catch those bad boys? I use rooster tails for bass and trout, whats your favorite lure? I would like to try something new. Ok, getting back on track... So I am to assume you can use a ring on the 30 to use the TCON 14b? And the Nikon 6T works aswell? Thanks Gene!
never mind.. after posting this the link worked :o

Yes all you need is a 55mm to 62mm stepup ring.
And those were stripers and white jigs and plastic minnow baits work well for them.

Check out this cool effect with the manual zoom. It took awhile to get the timing right and I'm still experimenting.

Nice pictures... I just bought one from panasonic for 630 with 18 months no interest... It is suppose to be here in 2 days any tips for me?!?!
I would get I larger memory card right away. I use a 256M with my FZ30 and I wish it was bigger. Probably get a 512M or a 1G (at least 32x), the 2G cards are a little pricey right now.
The only other thing would be to get another battery. The Battery for the FZ30 is new and I haven't found any other source for it other than Panasonic.
So I would wait for other companies to come out with one (ie Energizer, Lenmar, etc).

I believe 32x cards are far too slow for the FZ30. I saw on Steve's Forum that third party batteries for the FZ20 fit the FZ30.

Stan I remember them telling you that the camera needs 66X but I see no evidence of that in use.
Someone on the other forum said it does make a difference in Movie mode but it does not seem to make a difference in any other mode.
That said I just put the 32X card in the FZ20 and use a faster card in the FZ30.
But I have timed writing tiffs and bursts and see no difference.
But considering the prices now why not get the faster cards.
I do not think I will buy anything under 133X anymore.
And the spare FZ20 batteries I have work fine in the FZ30.

They work even though the shape is different????

Yep ...the connection is the same and the spring holds them in place, but I will buy the regular ones when they become available.

PALADIN:
On the front of the package for the Ultra II 1.0GB, SDSDH-1024-901, SanDisk:
"Read 10MB/s; Write 9MB/s"
Also, on back: "9MB/s = 60X: 10MB/s = 66X";
"150KB/sec = 1X in benchmark testing".
I understand the FZ20 writes at 9MB/s in the burst/movie modes.

StanStan............
Thank you sir!
I found a new 1Gb card @ Amazon for $79.95 so I ordered it for my incoming FZ-30.
That makes two items I won't have to upgrade for a while.
