Clicking noises - Normal? Canon Powershot S2 IS

Hey,
I recently bought a Canon Powershot S2 IS, works fine, but occasionally when I turn off the camera, the lens goes out a little, I hear some clicking noises going on inside the camera and then the lens fully retracts. Is this normal? It appears to have no effect on the picture and the clicking lasts for the same amount of time each time it occurs...

Does that happen only when you've had the lens zoomed to full telephoto? I hear the same little clicks, and the barrel appears to hesitate while retracting. I believe that's the internal lens elements repositioning before the full lens retracts.

It's a little unpredictable. I zoom out the lens without turning it off (two nudges to the right), and it makes the clicks without me touching the zoom. Then I open it, and close it again and it doesn't make the clicks. When I first bought the camera it never did this...
