I lost alot of quality using paintshop. I have photoshop 7 but need to install on a faster computer. These are with the 18-70 lense with Uv filter

That was was HUGE! but After zooming in in paintshop that was the best I could do.

Another with 70-300 lense blown up. Took a long time to get this shot with this lense on manual focus.

Are you using a 70-300 G or 70-300 D? Your posted shots turned out ok. How many shots is this sampling from?

I have a 70-300 G and it doesn't do very well at any setting. I get much better results with the Sigma 70-300 APO for just a little more $. Still not a Nikkor 80-200 f2.8, but for $200 (vs. $900) very acceptable.

I would like to see Nikkor produce some decent prosumer DX glass in this long (300mm) genre with a fixed f4 in the $400 to $500 range, and an 18-70 f2.8-f4 in the $600 range. Neither really would need VR, but it would be a nice extra on the 70-300.

I have the D model that cost around $300 smackers. I hate the fact it does not have a macro feature.

I took the shots on Fine and medium size.

Hi George,

Is this lens on Ebay the one you refere to? It is very affortable, but I wonder how its quality, especially in macro mode?

Yup. That's the one. But buying it on e-bay may not be the way to go. You can get it via Norman Camera or B&H Photo for $219, and at least know it is returnable (just in case it is one that got by QC).

Locally, Ritz/Wolf may also have them for a little more.
