Best Settings for Indoor: S2IS

Hey all...Me again, Does anyone recommend a basic INdoor setting, basically to take Quality HI_res pics of my son as he grows up.

The pics I have been taking so far are either blurry (using Auto) or Grainy (using a manual method)

Is there anything I am missing??
