A friend of mine bought a Canon S2 and after checking that out I decided to buy one too. I was using the camera for 5 days and then my SD card was full and I had to connect it on the PC for downloading the images since I do not have a memory card reader.
I did that, moved all the pictures into the hard drive of my pc and tried to control the camera through the PC.
When I tried to do that the camera shut down by itself. I the disconnected it from the USB and tried to get it started again. The camera was able to shoot pictures but when I was trying to access the Menus of the camera or browse the pictures in the SD card, it automatically shut down again.
As if the firmware of the camera crushed whenever I tried to access it.
I took it to Canon support here in my Country but I dont think that they will be able to fix it.
If anyone had experienced the same problem please reply and tell me whats going on because I am lost!!!!!! :(

Wish I could be more help, but it sounds just like my Uzi when the batteries run down. I'm sure you checked that so can't add more.

Hey Bill,
Not only I checked the batteries but I was able to shoot pictures with the camera, zoom in but whenever I tried to go to the Menus it shut down.It is very strange and I am so angry with Canon because on Saturday I will go on holidays and NO CAMERA.
Anyway, I cannot do anything more at the moment, I will just have to wait for the Canon Support to tell me if it can be fixed or not.

So it was a camera problem? Or a memory card problem? Just curious. :)
