Hi guys,

I'm planning to buy a compact digital camera which will be used for macro or product photography, but still want it to be good enough for point and shoot.
I'm thinking of Canon SD500 or Casio EX-Z750. However because of the lcd problem with canon, I'm more towards to Casio. But again Casio's macro is not as good as Canon's :(
Is there any other compacts that does good macro?
Thanks for your recommendation.

Thanks for your recommendation. There is no statistically valid evidence whatsoever that the SD500 has any more LCD problems than any other camera, period. I have owned this camera since March and carry it and use it every day...every single day...in my front pocket unprotected with all my other junk and it has never ever ever exibited a single problem. None. And there are millions of SDs sold that have never ever had a single problem. Just because a handfull out of millions have had problems doesn't make it a "problem" in the general sense. It is the best compact camera that I have used, without question. And it takes great macro shots...

I agree. I don't think the "LCD issue" should persuade your decision. Every camera model has it's share of problems. The chances of something going wrong with any camera you purchase is probably just the same (though I'd argue that the if anything were to go wrong with the SD, it would more than likely be the screen - haven't heard many other complaints).

Canon's S and SD series camera's (imo) are the best compact PnS camera's out there.

I have also been salivating over the EX-Z750 lately (I have an S200 I am looking to replace). It seems to have just about everything one could want. From what I've read, the Canon probably has a slightly better image overall, though I haven't looked at images between them. My untrained eye can never tell the difference.

Was also looking at the F10, but while I am thouroughly captivated by the thought of ISO 1600 shots, it just doesn't seem like a "simple" PnS.

Good luck with your choice! If you're anything like me, you'll be tearing your hair out over the decision (because no camera has it all) :\
