Hello,
I am intending to buy a digital SLR camera, with 6 to 8 MPixel resolution, with the best picture quality.
Since I suppose that the picture quality is directly related with the quality of the lens mounted on the camera, my choose could be between a Nikon D70s with the Nikon AF 18-70 DS lens or a Panasonic DMC-FZ30 with a Leica Vario Elmar lens.
I am actually using an "analog" camera: a Leica R6 with different Leica Lenses, between them a Summilux 1.4-50mm and a Vario Elmar 3.5-35/70mm, both with superp picture quality.
Based in this experience, I have some preference for the camera with the Leica lens.
Could somebody help me with the following questions:
Are the lenses manufactured by Panasonic under Leica license comparable in quality with the original Leica lenses?
Are they made form optical cristal (or from some cheaper organic - plastic- material)?
Has somebody experience comparing the picture quality difference between this both lenses?
Kind regards, Szabolcs

The lens is most deffinitly not a "leica" lens in the sense of the ones you own.

As far as good camera the pansonic is a good Point and shoot, an excelent one, but you would see FAR superior results mounting that leica glass onto a dSLR with an adapter.
