Hi all,
I bought my canon S2 IS finally after a lot of research. I am happy with the results. The pictures look nice. But as suggested in the forum i reduced the exposure to -1 and results look even better.

I am still exploring other options like movies. But once i capture the movie, when i try playing it on the camera there is no sound. I copied the movie to my pc too. Then again no sound. I am not sure if i am missing anything or there is something wrong with the camera?. I am worried sick bcos of this now. Anyone faced this issue? Any help much appreciated. :(

Try turning your microphone volume all the way up (Audio, Mic Level), and make sure mute isn't accidentally turned on. Since you have no volume on your PC either, it's unlikely your Playback Volume is the culprit. If anything, the sound pickup on my movies has been exceptional, even with long shots. Good luck.

Out of the box my wife took a few movies and we got sound just fine both playing back on camera and on the PC. I think it would be hard to do, but make sure you're not covering up the microphone ports with fingers or anything! Upper right/left of the lense on the front (it's stereo). As the previous poster mentioned, check your microphone settings (refer to manual). Try facing the front of the camera at short distance while taking a movie and try speaking at increasing volume levels until you have to shout. If none of that comes through then it might be serious. I hope not!
