The install of stitch assist froze part way through (no clue why, never had a problem before) so i had to restart and I removed the software (stitch assist) that was installing when it froze. Now when I try to reinstall it, it says Stitch Assit is already installed but it's not there! in any folder that I can find. Someone please help me out! thanks

There will be a work-around and maybe someone can help. What I do in a case such as yours (I don't recommend it unless have proper software) is use a Registry Cleaner. One which will show New software entries as well as old. I then delete the Registry entries pertaining to the problem software and start from scratch. Something was written to the Registry indicating the software is installed.

Did you uninstall it or erase it? If you didn't uninstall it via add/remove programs in the control panel then it is not uninstalled.

it was weird, I uninstalled it but for some reason the canon folder was left in program files afterwards so then I deleted that. I think I have regedit, not sure i kno how to use it though. thanks

-ChrisGet Registry Mechanic from PCTools. If you run Windows, it's the best $30.00 you'll ever spend...It will find and fix any/all registry problems and remove software that remains in the installed software list even after it been deleted.
But the other thing to remember, if you're running XP, is to ALWAYS run System Restore and create a checkpoint each time BEFORE you install ANY software. That way, you can always go back to the checkpoint and have any registry updates undone (needless to say, always create a checkpoint each time before you run a tool like Registry Mechanic as well...).
