Just a couple questions on the D70s and a few items I use with my current N6006.

1) Will I be compromising any of the D70s features by using my Tamron Autofocus 28-80mm lens?

2) Will my SB-24 flash work with the D70s. It already is somewhat limited with the 6006. :D

Thanks,

-TAC

1. The Tamron will work as well on the D70 as with the N6006, but keep in mind that it is now a 42mm to 120mm equivalent lens due to the 1.5X sensor crop. So, no real wide angle capability. If you are considering buying a body only, and using the 28-80 as your everyday lens, I would suggest against it. If you want cost savings then consider the new 18-55 DX lens for $150 as your everyday lens. Not as good as the Nikkor 18-70 DX but better than the Tamy.

That said, I suggest you try the Tamy first and if you can live with it then hey, who am I to say. But eventually, you will want a wider zoom.

2. The SB24 will work, but it is obviously not up to the capability of the D70, so I suggest saving up for an SB600 or SB800. Again it won't hurt to take a batch of photos to see if it is livable.

Hope this helps.

George thanks for the reply. I must confess I misspoke in my previous post, my lens is a Tamraon 28-200mm not 28-80. :D I assume your comments are still valid. As far as the flash, I have read up on how to "make it work" with the D70 so I'll play with it and see how it goes.
Thanks again,

The 28-200 will be of much greater use than a 28-80. But that does change the dynamics in that the 18-55 DX lens ($150) would probably be a good low cost alternative to the 18-70 DX ($300).

Only time will tell, but it should work.
