I am just about sold on the Canon PowerShot S2 IS Digital- I was headed towards the Rebel, but I think it is more than I need at this point and could better spend that money towards a better printer. My question is all this talk of purple fringing on the S2. Is there a picture gallery seperated by cameras, or do you just go throught the pix and look to see which ones were taken by the S2. Also, is this something that can be fixed with the programs on the computer? I will be taking pix of wildlife that I rehab, so they need to be very crisp up close. TIA
Karen

Buy a Rebel and the cheapest crap printer to do text with. Have prints done at a print shop. There's no way to recoup your costs of printing your own pictures, IMHO.

Please tell me where I can find a printshop that charges a $1.50 or less for a4/letter sized photo prints.
Karen, do not worry too much about purple fringing. The purple fringing the S2 displays in photo's that have very high contrast (sunlight next to objects, bright light sources) will give a soft purple edge. But you will probably notice you will have no problem with the S2's purple fringing. If you do have a photo where it shows and is annoying in print, then you should post a sample on here or another forum category and see who knows how to correct it. I do believe the newest Photoshop has a purple fringing removal tool, but probably other programs may offer that too, maybe paintshop pro.
Photoshop is expensive... just see what your camera does first :)
