View Full Version : A85 images did a bit better than A95

I just checked out Jeff's review of the A85, as well as the sample photos for A85 over at Steve's Digicams. It appears to me that the A85 has far less purple fringe than the 5MP A95. At Steve's site, the tough shot of the Marina is excellent with the A85, but awful with the A95.
For whatever reason, I do see more noise in the sky and in interior shots with the A85.
I guess I find it interesting.

You know, I don't see much difference between them, and I don't take an 'apples to apples' look at the night shots because at the lower F they all look awful.
Best thing would be to head to a local shop, get em both in your hand, take a picture of something in the parking lot (maybe either get a car with a sun glare in the windshield) with both, take them home and then see what you think. The problem with reviews like DC and Steve's is that, while they may both appear similar, there's no tellign what's been compensated for by the camera. Was there the exact same amount of sunlight? Time of day? Humidity, who knows. Get them in your hands, take pictures of same thing at same time of day and then go home and really look at them.
Example, at full res, look at the text on her shirt...
A85 - see the purple fringing there around the text on her shirt (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_reviews/a85/samples/img_0402.jpg)
A95 - Look at her shirt, same place and all...I don't see much difference (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_reviews/a95/samples/img_7034.jpg)
