View Full Version : D50 modes: Full Auto vs. P

First off, just bought the D50 and totally love it.
After reading through the manual and taking a number of shots, I'm confused about the difference between the Auto and P modes. Are there any major differences in picture quality, what's in focus, etc?

As far as I can tell, there is not a great deal of difference between Auto and P in terms of how the camera meters and takes individual shots. The main difference is in what you can do to the shot. Auto is point and shoot, no adjustments. However, in P mode the user can adjust the camera determined shutter/aperature combinations. P is basically point and shoot with over-ride capabilities.

the full auto mode also does not let you neither set the WB manually nor change the exposure compensation.....too, the flash mode and the "optimize image" option are locked.
