Card reader quality/technique

Is there a difference between downloading pics direct from cam or to cut and paste from reader? The file size is much larger when I do direct from cam then when I cut and paste from reader. Please Help!

I am not sure this is possible. The files transfered via drag and drop from a card reader are exactly the same files that are transfered over the the USB cable from the camera. The files themselves do not change, so there is no difference with either method.
