I have purchased a Pentax 1st DS 5 days ago and have encountered a problem with the built in flash. I cannot take a proper exposed picture in low light conditions. I have tried everything and even the Technical support at Pentax says it appears the camera is faulty. For example, I try to take a picture inside the house, the camera is set to auto, the flash goes off and everything appears fine, however when viewing the pictures, all of them are underexposed. It looks as though the flash is not in sync with the shutter. When there is plenty of light and the flash is not needed, it works great. I am curious if anyone has encountered this and possibly knows the reason.

You sure you didn't set the exposure compensation down to -2 or FEC to -2?

Thanks for the reply, I checked again and the exposure comp. is set at 0.0, I have tried the higher settings at .5 and 1.0, but it still doesn't make a difference.

I would trust their opinion and take it in for checkup/repair...
