View Full Version : How 'weatherproof' are Stylus cameras?

I heard that they can take as much as a splash. That sounds impressive, but how true is it? Can the thing really become drenched in rain and stay perfectly fine?

Mine took several good splashes, and survives to this day (my roommate has it now, and he's an outdoorsy sort of guy). The Olympus rep told me that he had seen one dunked into a bucket of water and then used, but advised me to to try it in the store, since they wouldnt warranty it if the battery or memory card door came open during my experiment.
I say "Water Resistant" instead of "Waterproof" just to avoid having people try to use them to take underwater pictures in the pool :D

I had a Stylus Epic film camera for years. Alas, it did not pass the washing machine test, but up till then it had been exposed to lots of rain and snow without a problem. Not sure if the digital models would react the same, but the one I had was pretty tough.
