I snapped some pics before, after, but only 2-3 during. I didn't want the water to damage my gear.

The rain was interesting, it was more of a fast moving mist/spray, than actual rain.
The water smelled like fish!!! It really stunk.

This is a couple filling up bags of sand at a sand bag station.

Good job Obijuan ... myself living about 90 miles north of the Gulf always brings a concern thought this time of year. I've been through and experienced enough for my life time and would care if I ever seen another one.

Juan, Great shots, thanks.

Do you live down by South Padre? I used to spend a lot of time in McAllen and Reynosa.

Wow, great photos. I would have fled North, I cannot imagine living through a hurricane.

My wife wanted to go back to central texas for the week. I have class, so it was not an option.

Thanks for the comments guys, I appreciate it.
:D

George, I live in McAllen. The pic with the rain is the Hidalgo-Reynosa border.

What were you doing down here. A few years ago this was just a craphole.
In the past 5-7 years things have really turned around. I could see the progression because I didn't live here and would occasionally visit.

Juan,

Up until about March of last year I used to call on LG (formerly Zenith) and Delphi in Reynosa, starting about 10 years ago. I used to cross at the Pharr bridge as it went right to Parque Industrial Reynosa. The Japanese guys (I was with Mitsubishi) thought that the Mexico side of the bridge was pretty cool before they tried to level it out. Kind of a rollercoaster effect. ;) We used to grab dinner at La Mancion (maybe wrong spelling) once in a while.

I would stay either at the Four Points, Courtyard (by the golf course) or the new Hilton Garden Hotel by the highway. My engineer down there was from Mexico and now lives in Mission. Loved eating over at the Santa Fe and Guacamaya once in a while (when important guys were in town).

I kinda miss going down there, great little airport (voted the best US airport in 1998 I think). Free parking and free wireless internet (no free Shiner yet :( ). I may find my way to the area again sooner or later. Somewhere in my archives I have a ton of pictures.

Holy crap George, I know of everything you mention!

Right behind the Four Points, there is a birding center, they are remodeling it now, and calling it a world birding center. The city is investing millions. I get to reap the benifits.
Guacamaya closed down, sadly. I think there is a Johnny Carino's in it's stead.

Shiner, haha, the only beer I drink is Shiner Bock/Blonde.
I do like some home brew stuff from Fredericksburg, but that's more of a treat since it's far away.

What's goin' on here.
My world just got smaller...
<Looks for hidden cameras>

If either of you come visit, we can go shootin' some wildlife!
I'm working on getting a job as a photographer for the Monitor, the Rio Grande Valley's newspaper. It would be so sweet!

Extremely, very, cool. Now how can I convince my boss to let me go down there? I'll have to work on it. ;)
