Well, it's been a week since my 20D purchase, and I'm still finding out what it can do....it's amazing!
I'm still in 'test shot' mode, here's a couple with no processing, just resized (man, they're really soft, eh??)

Are you using the 18-55? If so, make sure that you set the aperture to f8-f11. Should help.

Another test shot, this time at night.... A little processing, and resized...
Hmmmm, still not what I'm looking for.....need more practice....
(Like the big ol chunks of dirt on it? lol)

You could've set the aperture to say f/8 ~ f/11 and the sensor dust specks wouldn't have shown up. The Canon Kits Lens aren't the sharpest tool in the shed by a long shot. I have a decent copy but rarely ever use it.
Get a good hand blower brush and you can probably clean those specks of the sensor by blowing toward the sensor with the camera being held downward.
