Sigma makes a nice 24mm f1.8 Macro that is good to about 7 inches and would double as a nice 36mm general purpose WA portrait lens (about $299 at Norman Camera).

This will probably be my next lens as I gave my Nikon 990 to my youngest son, so I don't have that super macro (2cm) capability anymore.

If you come accross something better, in the same price range, let us know.
