Canon s410 battery replacement

I just got the Canon PowerShot s410 yesterday and would like to buy a spare battery. I looked online and noticed that there are a number of generic batteries that are replacements for the Canon Battery Pack NB-1LH or NB-1L.

The s410 User Guide recommends only using genuine Canon accessories.

Will these non-Canon Battery Packs work with my new camera ok, and is there any risk of damaging the camera? :confused:

Does anyone have a particular Battery Pack replacement they would recommend?

Of course they want you to use genuine Canon batteries. It's money in the bank. Just make sure that the 3rd party battery meets the voltage and minimum mAh rating and you should be fine.

NOTE: A mAh rating higher than the Canon battery is good, but the voltage rating must be the same.
