I am debating buying an A200 which is a serious upgrade from my current 3.2 MP camera. I am new to this hobby and studying and learning as much as I can. The one thing I was disappointed in with my 3.2 MP was how blurry action/sports shots came out. The shutter speed was 1/1000 maximum, although I used the 'auto' mode when taking the pics. When I tried to use 'shutter' mode, the higher levels often turned out a black photo! I love everything about the A200 but once I saw it had only 1/1600 shutter, while most of its competitors have 1/4000, I have become hesitant. Can someone help me understand this or let me know your experiences with the A200 and fast, action shots? Thanks very much in advance!

I'm no expert but that black photo things doesn't sound normal. Shutter mode should just give you shots at the shutter speed you choose. For the A200, just make sure that the resulting aperture number is shown in black and not red. Black means the exposure is okay and red means it could be way off (ie, there isn't enough light to take the shot). In that case, move your shutter speed down until a half click gives you a black aperture number in the viewfinder.
