Hello,
I am not a pro in this domain (newbie is better), and I want to replace the video cam and my digital cam with one device. I am satisfied with 3 Mpixels, but I need 10x optical zoom (available on movie recording), the quality on recording VGA / 30 frames. Preferable AA batteries, and MPEG4 (AVI on 1GB is 8minutes ?!? uh...). That means that I am interested in 1 hour in a 1 Gb card.

The closest that I found is the Pentax MX3 (or MX4), but I don't know if there are others and which are pros and cons.
Thanks in advance for your help

Canon S2 IS has a damn good movie mode and takes great pictures to boot.

Yes, but 8 mins on a 1GB card... and even if I will buy a 4GB card (is it on the market now?) which will cost me a fortune, the movie will be cut at 1Gb each...

You could look at the Olympus 770, it uses the Mpeg 4 format. I can record 30 minutes with my 512 mb card. With full zoom you would need an external microphone and it doesn't have IS, perhaps you will need a tripod with this camera -- with 10x zoom there is no way I could get a steady image. I haven't played with the movie mode much too busy taking pictures. Good luck on your search.
