Will this filter kit work with FZ20?

Honestly, I've read as many posts as I could find on filters and adapters for the FZ20 but unfortunately the more I read, the more confused I got. I've never used filters / adapters before so I'm a bit lost.
Firstly, I've just seen a kit with the following description on ebay uk.......

This is a 58mm UV / Polarizing Filters and Lens Adapter Bundle for Panasonic DMC-FZ20 / FZ10.

What are included in this auction?

58mm Screw-In Metal Lens Adapter (Black)
58mm Linear Polarizing Filter (Black)
58mm UV Filter (Black)
58mm Lens Cap (Black)

I think I remember someone saying that you need to use a circular polarizer, not linear, as this would affect AF. Is that correct?

Secondly, could I not just buy a 72mm Polarizer and use it with the adapter that came with my camera?
Like is there any advantage in even having a 72mm rather than 58mm?

Without the link it is hard to know if it is the correct adapter

One thing wrong with a 58mm adapter is not many lens are 58mm ..some but not many

No

A linear Polarizer works as well if not better with the FZ cameras.

There is one disadvantage to putting the filter on the Pansonic adapter...it puts the filter too far from the lens and causes lens flare.

But the 58 filters are fine .. in fact 52 mm work fine with a raynox adapter.

I'll keep in mind the lack of availability of 58mm filters. I might be better off spending a bit extra and going to Pemaraal (?).

I never saw that adapter before but it looks as though it will work fine.
And It is not filters that you will have a problem finding ..that will happen if you want to add a wide angle or tele lens.
But you can find them.
I believe both Sony and Raynox makes some lens that are 58mm.

that seems to be a good price but I would believe the filters to be anything but High quality.

Hmm. Yeah, I suppose generally speaking you get what you pay for. It would be a shame to have such a good camera and then complement it with inferior accessories.
Anyway, thanks again for confirming. At least now I know what'll work.

generally about the only difference in filters is the better one allow more light thru.
It seems reasonably priced.

I would think you will need some type of hood for that adapter, and he seems to have one.

You could always get a better filter later if you feel you need to.

Get him to work out a deal including the hood and go for it.
