i created an action where i do batch resizing in photoshop cs2 and have it automatically save the file through 'save for web'. however, when doing that with pictures i took with rebel XT, i notice the resized pictures doesn't have the EXIF information any longer. Using the same action and doing a batch with pictures I took with my Canon A80, the EXIF information is still included in the resized pictures.

I also tried saving a picture individually and doing 'save for web' after resize and notice the EXIF info is no longer there. But if i do a "Save As.." instead, the EXIF is there. Is there a reason why pictures with Rebel XT cant keep the EXIF info when "save for web"? .. I could use Iranview to keep EXIF after resizing but I prefer photoshop resizing better. Thoughts?

It think is a feature that Adobe took out of the "Save for web option" cause it does the same thing in Photoshop Elements, stripping the EXIF info. Even with my A95.

hmm that sucks. why would they do such things! lol .. guess irfanview will do then for batch resizing.

Just do a resize and save at higher compression not as save for web.

to hazard a guess, I'd say they (adobe) figured saving for web implied minimum file size (reasonable), and also that a picture posted on a website wouldn't really need the EXIF (also pretty reasonable), so they chuck the EXIF to make the file smaller...
Just use a lower JPEG quality level to save and you'll be fine; although I must say the "Batch Conversion / Rename" tool in IrfanView is also really powerful, so that's another option.

^^ yea. for batch processing, ill use irfanview. but if im working an individual pic or a few pic, ill use the 'save as .. ' function. :)
