In thread http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10074 I mention a problem I have always had with my Oly C50Z, which shows up when the temperature goes low.
Now, the question is, which cam should I buy if I wanted one that worked reliably at low temps, say down to at least -10 °C, which is not uncommon when I go skiing in the Alps?
Is there even one digicam (I mean compacts here, I can't carry anything larger when I ski) that is rated as working (not OK in storage, actually working) below 0 °C?

I've used all my digital cameras (Oly D-4??, Oly C-720, Canon SD300) while skiing and hiking in temps down to about -20 F (-29 C), with absolutely no problems. I've pushed them pretty hard and they've all come through with flying colors. The SD300 in particular has been a workhorse all winter.

Battery life is shorter, but no issues with picture quality aside from occasional condensation problems.

Well, I must have gotten unlucky then. Either that, or the particular model suffers cold more than most. I hope somebody else with the C50Z can comment on this.
